    Thought you might like to see the next generation of tires. They had a pair at the Philadelphia Car show.

    Here are photos of the new Michelin tires.

    These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

    This is what great R&D will do and just think of the impact on existing technology:
    a.. no more air valves
    a.. no more air compressors at gas stations
    a.. no more repair kits ...

    old for me .
    astia au inventat cauciucul cu spitze . toate bune si frumoase pina intrii pe noroaie si " intra la spite " . dupa ce se usuca noroiul e ca si cind ai merge cu janta direct pe pamint plus ca orice balega iti dezechilibreaza " roata " iar efectul de ventilator iti tine caii in grajd si consumul de cauciuc e mai mare !!
    un concept useless . uitati-va ce deformat e "cauciucul " si va dati seama cita energie se disipa numai pt acest lucru.


    LE : in plus, banda de rulare nu se deformeaza uniform ca un cauciuc normal si o sa faca " lipa - lipa " de o sa ai impresia ca mergi pe piatra cubica . la un cauciuc normal se simte orice crapatura in asfalt , ca sa nu mai zic si de beton ...

    @ ntm : cauciuc sigur nu ( talpa de pantofi d'aia ieftini ). si greutatea pe roata nu e chiar asa de mare . sa zicem 2t /4 roti => 500 per roata >>> 500 kg / 40 spite ~ 13 kg de spita nu e mult

    dar din ce sunt spitzele alea de sunt suficient de tari de suporta greutatea masinii si suficient de deformabile cand treci peste pietre..chestii ?!!

    Ei, lasa ca nu o sa ramana asa deschise ca sa intre noroiul la spite. Asta e doar un model care prezinta tehnologia asta. De ce ar acoperi lateralele cu o membrana de cauciuc si sa nu se mai vada nimic?!

    Old news, si cum zice blue_led, useless, un concept putin ratat.

    atomidude, pentru ca atunci creste presiunea in cauciuc si nu se mai deformeaza cum trebuie.

    Nu e deloc ratat, armata USA cica l-a preluat repede si il dezvolta mai departe. Conceptul are potential major pentru armata, ganditi-va la cauciucuri imune la gloante, tragi in ele si degeaba. Get the picture, no air....?

    Si NASA se zicea ca e interesata de proiect pentru rotile vehiculelor lunare. Iarasi aceeasi faza cu aerul ...

    Arata ciudat pe masina, parca e caruta, si cred ca si rezistenta la inaintare e mai mare, dar precis ventileaza foarte bine discurile de frana, iar daca ti se rupe o spita cum o vulcanizezi ?

    de care motociclistii sunt foarte incintati , mai ales cei de enduro / cross . am asa ceva in anvelopele de la ktm . nu faci pana pe pietrele din rau dar in anumite conditii ( noroi , radacini ) un cauciuc pe aer ar fi fost mai bun . per ansamblu e ok cu spuma aia .
